Tribute to CClr Marilyn Parkin

16

July 2025
MP

Pirton Parish Council are posting this tribute to Marilyn Parkin, Parish Councillor and Bury Trust Trustee who sadly passed away last month.

Marilyn will be immensely missed by the Parish Council as she was absolutely dedicated to Pirton Village’s causes. Her fighting spirit was much admired by us – she was extremely persistent when trying to get something done, when information needed to be had from Herts County Council or North Herts District Council, and she did not take “no” for an answer when she believed that there was one. People and community came first; she sat on the village hall committee, she obtained grants to help maintain the Bury and Toot Hill, and she was very involved in campaigning to help Wrights Farm and to keep its footpaths open and accessible and raise attention about the Washbrook. She also campaigned for the 20mph speed limits around the village (which are still being finalised) and contributed to many other projects which the Parish Council have undertaken over the last few years.

Marilyn was kind and thoughtful and extremely dedicated in finding answers to many village issues. The Parish Council miss her very much and wish to send their condolences to her family.
